PLAN

http://dkstowers.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Marketing_Plan.jpg

Well done, Year 10.  Now let's move on to the Plan and determine a time frame for completing your stop motion videos.

According to MYP Technology, "Students are expected to construct a plan to create their chosen product/solution that has a series of logical steps, and that makes effective use of resources and time.

Students are expected to evaluate the plan and justify any modifications to the design."

To get a 5/6: The student produces a plan that contains a number of detailed, logical steps that describe the use of resources and time. The student critically evaluates the plan and justifies any modifications to the design.

Your tasks are as follows:
1. Create a Resource list,
2. Create a Production Plan (showing step-by-step how to create your movie),
3. Include a detailed Gantt chart.

IB Learner Profile: Thinker

Learning objectives:
1. construct a plan to create the product/solution that has a series of logical steps,
2. construct a plan to create the product/solution that makes effective use of resources and time,
3. evaluate the plan and justify any modifications to the design.

Design

http://akvis.com/img/examples/sketch/create-storyboard/ready-storyboard.jpg
What is a storyboard? According to Wikipedia, "Storyboards are graphic organizers in the form of illustrations or images displayed in sequence for the purpose of pre-visualizing a motion picture, animation, ..." This is particularly pertinent in relation to our current project. Creating a storyboard will help you plan your animation out shot by shot. You can make changes to your storyboard before you start animating, instead of after you have begun your video potentially saving you loads of time. (For more info check out this link: http://accad.osu.edu/womenandtech/Storyboard%20Resource/.)

Do a quick keyword search (storyboard template) on Google to get ideas to produce your own storyboard.

Now, onto the DESIGN (Criterion B).
1)You need to produce two (2) different complete storyboards for you movie  (include technical aspects such as: camera angles, lighting, time, action, etc.)
2) evaluate each against your design specification.
3) choose one of the designs and write a paragraph justifying your choice.

According to the IBO:
"Students are expected to generate several feasible designs that meet the design specification and to evaluate these against the design specification.
Students are then expected to select one design, justify their choice and evaluate this in detail against the design specification.

To get a 5/6: The student generates a range of feasible designs, each evaluated against the design specification. The student justifies the chosen design and evaluates it fully and critically against the design specification."

Deadline February 12

IB Learner Profile: Risk-taker

Learning Objective: generate several feasible designs that meet the design specification; evaluate the designs against the specification; select one design and justify its choice.

3. Formulate a Design Specification

http://www.technologystudent.com/images4/specy3.jpg

Year 10, the third step of the Investigation is 3. Formulate a Design Specification.

The IBO defines Design Specification as: "A detailed description of the conditions, requirements and restrictions with which a design must comply. This is a precise and accurate list of facts such as conditions, dimensions, materials, process and methods that are important for the designer and for the user. All appropriate solutions will need to comply with the design specification."

To get a 5/6 the student: describes detailed methods for appropriate testing to evaluate the product/solution against the design specification.

Your task is to create a detailed list of design specifications and justify your choice.  Then create tests to evaluate your product.

Remember that the design specifications are an outgrowth of your research.

3. Formulate a Design Specification     Assignment
1. Write a sentence to introduce this section (example: My stop motion film must include the following design specifications). (Yes, you can use that sentence :)
2. Create a list of at least 5 design specifications and justify each design specification.
3. Create a test to evaluate your stop motion film. (Remember to include a rating scale and that the questions need to be appropriate to really help you analyze your product.)

Investigate Due: January 24

IB Learner Profile: Inquirer

Learning objective: The student will list the specific requirements that must be met by the product/solution and design tests to evaluate the product/solution against the design specification.

___________________________________________________________

2. Develop a Design Brief
(Ask and answer the following questions completely or look at the following research topics to help you solve your problem)

Write a sentence to introduce this section of the project (ex: To drive my Investigation I will conduct the following research.)
1. What is stop motion?  Research and explain in your own words.
2. What are the elements of a story? How can you use this information to help you make a creative video which tells a story?
3. Look at 4 stop motion videos to gather information and ideas to make your own video? (address each of the following: What worked? What didn't? What did you like? What didn't you like? What ideas can you use?)
4. What technical aspects of movie making will help make an engaging movie? (lighting, camera angles, etc.)
4. What techniques do I need to know to create a stop motion video? (Look at a tutorial, summarize findings).
5. What video host will you use? (Look at 2, justify choice)

 IB Learner Profile: Inquirer

Learning objectives: independently identify meaningful questions, carry out web search, select and organize appropriate sources and evaluate them.
